Construction of the Wind Farm

ABO Wind also manages the wind farm construction in order to ensure that due dates, quality standards and cost calculations are met. In other words, ABO Wind plans, coordinates and supervises the construction phase.

Installation of the Foundation

As far as possible, these tasks will be assigned to regional, medium-sized corporations. The construction of the foundation and the access roads will be the first steps. ABO Wind is aware of using existing roads through enlarging them with gravel if possible. About 40 tons of steel and 350 cubic meters of concrete will be used for the foundation of a wind turbine.

The Construction of the Cable Tray

The cable tray mostly runs parallel to the road leading from the turbine to the transformer station. Using a cable plow, up to 1,000 meters of cable may be laid in one day.

Erection of the Wind Turbine

The turbine is usually erected in one day; the process is subdivided into three phases: Initially, the tower arrives disassembled and will be installed by the use of two cranes.




Then the nacelle, which houses the electrical generator, is mounted with high-strength screws. The three rotor blades are being connected to the hub while remaining on the ground; it will be installed as the last component afterwards.
